Why Use a Tag Manager?
Companies that are using a range of digital marketing tools and website analytics solutions eventually realise the process of installing and configuring the necessary tag snippets is cumbersome. Changes to existing tags or the addition of new tags can be somewhat complicated and slow to roll out.
Tag management solutions solve this problem.
Google Tag Manager is a free tool that has a long list of integrations with third-party tools and services, not just Google’s. But even if the integration you need doesn’t have a built-in template, we can add custom tags manually.
Benefits Of Using GTM.
We encourage our clients to use a tag manager tool for various reasons.
Below are some key benefits you gain by choosing Google Tag Manager.
Need for a developer’s help all but removed.
While you may need a developer to install the Google Tag Manager tags initially, you can then manage almost all current and future tags from with the GTM interface without their help.
User permissions and change logging.
GTM makes it easy to control who can do what. Not only that, tag changes, additions and removals are all logged and easy to roll back using the built-in version contol system.
Community templates make life even easier.
The Community Template Gallery provides a resource where third-party vendors can share tag templates. This means the integrations with third-party services are reliable.

What We Can Do.
We are happy to setup, configure and manage your Google Tag Manager account. That includes creating a new account, if you don’t have one already, or making edits to an existing account that you have been using for years.
Note that we aren’t (currently) taking on clients who want or need to implement server-side GTM configurations. We let our clients know if this becomes something they should consider. For most companies, however, this isn’t necessary.
Google Tag Manager services are different for each client, so we provide a quote based upon your needs.
Google Tag Manager FAQs.
It’s totally understandable if you are confused about GTM.
We answer some of the commonly asked question below.
Can GTM slow down our website?
Used properly, Google Tag Manager’s overhead is very slight. That said, if too many large or poorly built tags are being loaded via GTM all at once, it can affect performance. The key is to regularly review what tags are running and only enable those that are currently needed. This concept applies even if you aren’t using a tag management tool.
Is GTM hard to use if you’re not a developer?
While pitched as being very user-friendly, the reality is that it can be tricky to implement GTM effectively. While you certainly don’t need to be a developer to use it, having our background in web development often proves useful. Especially when implementeting custom tags or when using advanced configurations.
What happens if something goes wrong in GTM?
It’s very unlikely you’ll break your site using GTM, especially if you test your tags before publishing them. GTM has a preview mode that lets us check everything is working before going live. Even if a tag isn’t set up properly, it usually just means that particular tracking code snippet won’t work until the tag is corrected. Eveything else should function as normal.
What kind of tags can we use with GTM?
GTM works with a wide range of tags—from the standard ones like Google Analytics and Google Ads, to third-party tools like Facebook Pixel and LinkedIn Insights, or even custom scripts. We can use built-in tag templates or paste in your own code if needed. It’s flexible enough to support most popular marketing and tracking platforms, all managed from one place.
Is GTM different from putting code straight into the site?
The main difference is control and flexibility. Instead of asking your developer to add or change code every time you need to track something, GTM lets us manage it through a dashboard. It also makes it easier to test, update, or pause tags without touching the website’s code. That means fewer delays and a lot more agility when running marketing campaigns.
Do we need GTM if we have a web developer?
Even if you’ve got a developer, GTM is still a great tool. It saves time by reducing how often we need to ask them to update tracking code, especially for marketing or analytics changes. Your developer can handle the one-off installation, then hand it over so you or our team can manage tags directly.
